Lakeview 9, Reed CIty 1

LAKEVIEW — Zuzana Maruscakova scored a goal, assisted by Lauren Voelker, for Reed City in a 9-1 loss to Lakeview on Monday in girls soccer action.

Lakeview led 4-0 at halftime The game ended on the mercy rule with 2:22 to play.

Reed City is 1-6 and plays Tri County at home Wednesday.


Pine River 6-4, McBain 0-0

MCBAIN — Greg Park allowed one hit and struck out 14 to win Game 1, and Mitchell McDonald allowed one hit and struck out 13 to win Game 2 on Friday .

Lucas Harris was 2 for 3 in each game, while McDonald was 2 for 4 in the opener. Alex Knapp was 2 for 3 in Game 2.

The Bucks (9-0) host Big Rapids on Monday.

Newaygo 8-9, Reed City 0-2

REED CITY — Reed City fell to 2-9 with these two losses Friday to Newaygo in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action.

Ray Phenix was the losing pitcher in the first game, going five innings and allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight. Logan Straub had a hit for Reed City.

Logan Straub took the loss in the second game and gave up six runs. Hunter Morrison pitched in relief. Straub had a hit for Reed City.

Beal City 10-10, Evart 0-2

EVART — Evart lost a pair of games on Monday to Beal City in Highland Conference action. Evart didn’t get a hit in the first game. Noah Drake took the loss but limited Beal City to two runs the first three innings.

In the second game, Nolan VanOrder had a single and stolen base. Cody Pritchard had a single. Josh Dorn and Chris Imhoff had one RBI apiece.

Evart (0-2, 2-8) is home Wednesday against McBain.

Coleman 12-2, Evart 6-11

EVART — Evart came back to win the second game of this doubleheader on Friday. Andrew Maxwell was the losing pitcher. VanOrder came in for four innings and allowed one run. E

VanOrder had two singles and two stolen bases. Robert Tapling had two singles and a stolen base. Bengry, Maxwell and Pritchard had singles.


Pine River 18-15, McBain 17-0

MCBAIN — Chelsey TerBurgh, Jenna Johnson, KayLee Goodman and Carleigh Trowbridge each had three hits in the opener for the Bucks. Tailor Charles recorded three hits in the nightcap, while Kourtney Brock allowed two hits and a four-inning, complete-game shutout.

Coleman 18-17, Evart 0-0

EVART — Evart’s softball team fell to Coleman in non-league action Friday night. Evart is 2-6. Coleman had a grand slam in the first game.

”We didn’t execute anything very well offensively or defensively,” Evart coach Jeff Bressler said.

Beal City 13-17, Evart 1-1 

EVART — Evart dropped a pair of Highland Conference games on Monday to Beal City.

“We played behind but well the first five innings of Game 1,” Evart coach Jeff Bressler. “The wheels seemed to fall off in the sixth, but we did not finish strong. Game 2 was a continuation of the sixth inning of Game 1. Our bats showed some life in both games, but we just couldn’t seem to put enough hits together to score runs. We have some things to address in practice.”

The next game is Wednesday against McBain at home.
