"It was senior night," coach Matt Lagrow, of Marion, said. "Ana Batonovic, an exchange student from Spain, Riley Kischnick, Aspen LaGrow, Lexi Salisbury, and Isabell Bontekoe, were honored before the game.

We are still not where we want to be, and we remain a work in progress, but our girls are really in a groove right now, and playing very well as a team. Our overall mental toughness is improving, and we just need to carry that forward and see what happens."

Lexi Salisbury had 14 points and five rebounds. Stella Henderson had 11 points, nine rebounds.

Evart 71, Beal City 38

EVART -- Addy Gray had 25 points and seven rebounds; Kelci Elder had 20 points and 11 boards and Mackenzie Vanburen had 12 points and seven boards on Thursday.

"Livia Hopkins had a great game with five points and 14 rebounds," Evart coach Matt Tiedt said.

"Addy and Kelci had been going all season where one has a great game and the other struggles. So it was so good to finally have them both have a really good game," Tieit said. "We need them both in order to beat good teams. Other than a couple of mental mistakes, it was a really good game for the girls."

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pine River boys

The Bucks lost to Roscommon at home 65-59 in overtime on Friday. They beat McBain Northern Michigan Christian 61-52 on Wednesday.

"This week we host Clare on Tuesday," coach Brian Goodenow said. "We don't know a lot about them, other than they are athletic and having a solid season. On Thursday we host Houghton Lake whom we beat on a buzzer-beater in our first meeting. They are a solid team with a good-shooting big man, so they will help us in our preparation for our district matchup with Mason County Central.

"Marcus Jurik and Lane Ruppert have both been playing very well. They have both amped-up their intensity and continue to be the leaders of our team."
