Reed City 1-7

SHELBY -- Reed City's volleyball team was 1-7 at the Shelby Invitational on Saturday.

Reed City lost to North Muskegon 25-15, 25-19, to Pine River 25-9, 25-23 and to Holton 25-19, 25-10. The Coyotes split with Pentwater 18-25, 25-23.

For Reed City, Demi Lodholtz had 17 kills, four aces and nine digs, Mady Brown had nine aces, three aces and 47 digs; MaKena Hill had three kills and three digs; Katelynn Holmes had eight kills, three aces and 22 digs; Mackenzie Wein had 13 kills and 28 digs; Maddie Morgan had four aces and 16 digs; Alison Duddles had 13 digs and one kill and Rylie Olds had 20 digs.'

Evart girls

EVART -- Evart lost 25-17, 25-10, 25-6 at Manton on Oct. 1. Kara Henry had nine kills, one block and two aces. Deanna Conklin had 11 assists, one kill and fou digs. Kaylee Ladd and Livi Hopkins both had two kills and four digs.

Evart lost to Houghton Lake on Sept. 26 by scores of 25-12, 25-12, 24-26, 25-11. Henry had eight kills, five blocks and two aces. Katie Rueffer and Skylor Baumgardner both had five kills.

Pine River 3 Roscommon 0

Pine River volleyball hosted Roscommon on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and won in three games. 25-15, 25-22, 25-10.

Emma Whitley had 11 kills and 16 digs; Parker Moores had eight kills and eight digs and Sophie Johnson had 26 assists and 13 digs.

"We served very aggressive and did a terrific job keeping them out of system," Bucks coach Jana Dennis said. "We played a great third game with high intensity from everyone. We are excited for this weekend and for what the rest of the season will hold."

Pine River's overall record is 14-12-1 with a Highland Conference record of 8-4.

Pine River 2-1-1

LEROY -- Pine River was 2-1-1 at Shelby on Saturday.

In pool play, the Bucks beat Pentwater 25-19, 25-19; split with North Muskegon 15-25. 25-23 and beat Reed City 25-9, 25-23.

In the gold bracket, Pine River lost to Montague 25-21, 25-20.

For the Bucks, Emma Whitley had 23 kills and 25 digs. Cayla Trowbridge had 22 kills and 17 digs

and Sophie Johnson had 59 assists and 17.

"We played fairly consistent all day," Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. "We struggled at times with adequately adjusting our defense and this gave us many errors. It was the first time we've had our whole team back together and everyone contributed to the successes we had."

Pine River has a home tri on Thursday with North Bay and Big Rapids Crossroads.

CROSS COUNTRY

Pine River fourth

LEROY -- Pine River was fourth and Evart ninth among nine boys teams on Saturday in the Cecil Burch Invitational at Pine River.

For the Bucks, Philip Rigling was 12th (19:04.03), Landin Cool 31st (20:22.71), Jordan Koetje 36th (20:42.20), Wyatt Underhill 42nd (21:04.47) and Logan Churchill 43rd (21:05.24).

For Evart, Kinkade Debreuil was third (18:01.29), Andrew Booher 46th (21:24.40), Cory Vader 69th (23:18.28), Kole Clark 70th (23:18.45) and Seth Goodwin 79th (26:11.96).

The Evart girls were fourth and Pine River was sixth.

For Evart, Laina Payne was eighth (22:42.87), Sophia Scott 13th (23:11.55), Briana Cass 21st (23:49.43), Rilee Clark 40th (26:03.78) and Rose Clark 50th (27:21.50).

For Pine River, Elizabeth Rigling was 16th (23:30.71), Payton Fulmerhouser was 28th (25:05.23) and Jada Montgomery 31st (25:26.25).
