REED CITY — Ryan Neal has had a unique season in his sophomore year wrestling for Reed City.

He started out winning four of his first 11 matches. But he has impressed coach Roger Steig with his attitude and steady improvement.

“It’s been fine getting through,” Neal said. The shoots and fireman’s moves have been among Neal’s favorites.

He’s working with the duck under move. He’s been wrestling at 285.

“I enjoy the wins and I enjoy the trip (to the South Haven) tournament,” Neal said

Steig indicated Neal would be better suited at 215 pounds but that slot hasn’t been open and he’s been used instead at 285.

This means he’s usually wrestling heavier opponents.

Reed City is at Chippewa Hills on Wednesday in district action.
