REED CITY — Mark Richards is a senior right tackle for Reed City who is among the players in their final high school year hoping to have a memorable finish.

The 5-11, 190-pound lineman also played last season.

“Mostly speed off the ball,” has been the key, Richards said of the line. “Offense is just as good now as in the past with speed and power.”

The Coyotes have started out 8-0. Richards, also an outside linebacker on defense, indicated an early season win over Newaygo may have been among the team’s best games.

Depth on the team has been a key for the team’s success, Richards said.

“Most of us have started since summer,” he said.

The Coyotes are home Friday against McBain. Reed City made it five straight Central State Activities Association titles Friday with a 26-7 win over Chippewa Hills.

“I feel confident we’ll win our games,” Richards said. “They’re all gunning for us.”

The Coyotes also will be in the playoffs starting on Oct. 30. The MHSAA will televise announcement of first-round pairings on Sunday.
