LAKEVIEW — Reed City’s wrestling team team placed sixth at the Lakeview Invitational on Saturday led by Mason Bush, who was second at 152 pounds with a 2-1 record.

Tyler Kerr (171) and Ryan Simmons (112) were both 3-2.

Reed City has its 28th invitational on Saturday with 12 teams: Central Montcalm, Farwell, Grant, Kalkaska, Lake City, Lakeview, Lee, Manistee, Manton, Newaygo, Pine River and Reed City. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.

Reed City coach Roger Steig said he anticipated a strong push for first place for defending champion Pine River, plus Grant.

Meanwhile, Reed City notched nine wins to take a 60-24 Central State Activities Gold Division win over Newaygo on Wednesday.

Chippewa Hills blanked Reed City 78-0.

Winners for Reed City against Newaygo were Brett Walker (189), Mason Bush (152), Austin Fowler (215), Simmons (112), Austin Major (119), Mark White (125), Heaven Hurley (130), Hunter Brahma (125) and Jayson Johnson (140).

Wednesday, Reed City is at Fremont with the Packers and Central Montcalm.
