SOUTH HAVEN -- Reed City placed second at the eight-team South Haven Invitational going 4-1 on the day.

Reed City had wins over Bangor 48-30, South Haven 48-32, Unity Christian 60-23 and Niles 48-36.

In the championship round, it was Wayland over Reed City 42-34. Wrestlers going 5-0 were Izaiah Lentz (150), Bryson Hughes at (215) and Carter Johnson at (106).

Wrestlers going 4-1 were Logan Kindig at (132), Elijah Lentz (144) and Watt Spalo (285). Wrestlers with two wins were Myles McCarthy (138), Connor Ward (165), Hunter Fagon-Moyer (175), Barron Bowman (113) and Hannah Los at (120).

Also with wins were Andrew Kiaunis (157), Braydon Saxton (190) and Noah Morgan at (215).

“In the championship match with Wayland, with two weight classes left to wrestle, the score was 36-28 and we had to win both to be tournament champions but we split going 1-1 with them,” Steig said. “We have three wrestlers that are undefeated all 14-0 for the season with Izaiah Lentz, Bryson Hughes and Carter Johnson. Our season record is 11-3).”

Evart at Mount Pleasant

Evart was at Mount Pleasant on Saturday at a team tournament. The Wildcats lost to Mount Pleasant 54-22. Winning wrestlers were Joseph Kunin, Riley Ransom, Cole Hopkins and Alex Burhans.

Evart lost to Petoskey 51-21. Winning wrestlers in that dual were: Dallas Langworthy, Ransom, Hopkins, and Burhans. Evart beat Shepherd 47-21. Wrestlers earning wins were Owen Craven, Langworthy, Michael Lodholtz, Ransom, Hopkins, Teijin Wing and Trenton Brown.

“We start back into the conference schedule next week and also wrestle in TC West on Friday,” Evart coach Ben Bryant said.
