LEROY -- Pine River finished runner-up at the Carson City Dual Tournament on Saturday. For the five rounds, it was, respectively, Pine River 29 Belding 27; Pine River 40 Hillsdale 22, Pine River 44 Laingsburg 29; Pine River 39 Mason County Central 36 and Pine River 24 Comstock Park 24.

“We were able to add a couple pieces back to our lineup this week so that was a nice lift for team morale,” Pine River coach Terry Martin. “We are hoping to be back to full strength by the end of next week as the end of the season approaches.  The middle of our lineup continues to wrestle strong and lead our squad. Phil Rigling (152) and Damian Jackson (125 ) were both undefeated for the tournament.  Jordan Nelson (119), Wyatt Underhill, Cyden Mys (160) and Rogan Nelson 171 were all 4-1.

“Rogan Nelson had a deciding match for our win against MCC. Bumped up to 189, he was able to secure a fall and win the dual in the last match. Zach Rizor also had a great win in our dual against Laingsburg in his first tournament in the varsity lineup.”

Pine River will host a conference quad on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. It will also be the Bucks’ senior night.
