Reed City wins three matches at Glen Lake

REED CITY —  Reed City’s volleyball team was 3-1-2 at the Glen Lake Invitational on Saturday.

“I thought we played better than we have,” Reed City coach Don Patterson said. “We had some stretches where we played good offense. Our defense was sound, like it’s been. The kids had a little more fun. They’ve been scratching and clawing. It was a pretty good day for us.”

Reed City split with Grand Traverse 21-25, 25-23; swept Northport 25-21, 25-21; swept Glen Lake 25-18, 25-18; beat Benzie Central 25-19, 25-19, split with East Jordan 25-17, 23-25 and lost to Benzie in the semifinals 25-20, 25-19.

For Reed City, Hanna Price had 27 kills, eight aces and 69 digs; Ally Yarger 24 kills, 10 aces and 76 digs; Megan Donley 19 kills, four aces, a block and 67 digs; Liza Emington had 20 kills, five aces, one block, 52 assists and 38 digs; Meghan Borst had 13 kills, two aces, three blocks and nine digs; Jordyn Storch added one kill, 14 aces and 25 digs, plus 48 assists; Sidni Rushford had six kills, one block and two digs; and Alyssa Olds contributed one kill and 41 digs.

“The kids are starting to get better,” Patterson said.

Reed City is at Big Rapids on Thursday.
