EVART — Reed City defeated Evart 19-25, 25-8, 25-9 and swept Harrison 25-17, 25-14 in non-league volleyball action on Wednesday.

For Reed City, Claudia Francke had 48 assists and six digs, Mady Brown eight digs and four kills, Jenna Johnson five digs, Kamryn Myers eight kills and 14 digs, Maddie Morgan four aces and three digs, McKenzie Wein 24 digs, KateLynn Holmes three digs and two kills, Demi Lodholtz nine kills, 10 aces, eight digs and three blocks, and Alison Duddles 21 kills and eight digs.

Reed City is 4-3.

“It’s nice to get a couple,” Reed City coach Don Patterson said. “It’s always nice to get a chance to play Evart, as close as they are. They don’t have a bad team. They’re really scrappy and are dong a good job of getting the ball.

“I thought our serve receive really improved today. Our outside with Brown, Wein and Myers did a great job. (Duddles) had a great job in the middle; 21 kills, that’s a pretty good job.”

Evart lost to Harrison 25-13, 27-25.

“Our girls, they fought so hard,” Evart coach Katie Nostrant said. “A couple of times they got down on themselves. Thankfully, they were able to pull themselves out of it.”

Against Reed City, McKenzie Kimball had four assists, Livia Hopkins two digs and Kara Henry four blocks. Felicia Nelson, Hopkins, Ladd and Kimball had one ace apiece.

Against Harrison, Henry had two blocks while Kimball had four assists and Hopkins four digs.

“When we talked and communicated, we did really well,” Evart junior libero Kaylee Ladd said. “Last year we did all right. But this year, I think we’ll definitely improve.”
