Reed City volleyball team set for challenges

REED CITY — It’s going to get busier in upcoming weeks for the Reed City volleyball team.

The Coyotes had a quad meet on Tuesday against Big Rapids and McBain.

The next match is Tuesday at Newaygo in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action. The Coyotes also are at the Big Rapids Invitational on Sept. 10.

The Coyotes entered this week having had a tournament on Aug. 19 at Ludington. That was their only action until this week.

A few days prior, the Coyotes had their overnight bonding sessions in the Reed City gymnasium while getting ready for the season.

Seniors Meghan Borst and Alexis Van Eck and junior setter Jordyn Storch are among the key returners for the team. Also back are Sidni Rushford at the net and Alyssa Olds at libero.

Maddlin Mora and Alison Duddles, a freshman will be net players.

“Duddles will have some growth to do but we expect she’ll contribute mightily for us,” Patterson said. “Olds will have a huge role for us. Alyssa has really made some strides this summer.”
