Reed City volleyball team prepares for district

REED CITY – The regular season has ended and Reed City’s volleyball team is gearing up for district action.
The Coyotes competed on Saturday in the Central Montcalm Invitational and were 1-2-2. They split with the host school 25-22, 22-25; lost to Chippewa Hills 25-22, 25-23, split with Pine River 25-18, 20-25, lost to Hesperia 25-23, 25-21 and beat Ithaca 25-13, 19-25, 15-7.
For Reed City, Demi Lodholtz had 20 kills, three aces and three blocks; Kyleigh Weck had 32 kills, 12 aces and five blocks; MaKena Hill had three kills and three blocks, Rachel VanSyckle had three aces and 41 assists; Katelyn Holmes had 23 kills, eight aces and six blocks; Kendell Henry had two kills and two aces and Elizabeth Cockrell had 11 kills and six aces.
“We made some good progress in our serve receive game but struggled a bit with unforced errors,” Reed City coach Don Patterson said. “As the day went on, we served better. Kyleigh Demi and Katelynn had really nice offensive days and Kendell Shafr and Lizzie continue to play really solid defense.”
Reed City plays at Shepherd on Wednesday for the district semifinals against Chippewa Hills. The winner plays in the title match on Thursday.
