Reed City volleyball players gearing into summer program
REED CITY — Volleyball practices officially begin in less than a month, but teams like the Reed City Coyotes are already getting ready by taking advantage of summer workout opportunities.
Reed City coach Don Patterson said his players are going Monday through Thursday through the rest of this month, 4-6 p.m., each time, at the Reed City gym.
The emphasis this week is hitting. Later in the month, the emphasis will be passing. Monday and Tuesday will be more like an open gym, Patterson said.
“There will be a lot more scrimmage work,” he said. “In August, all we can do is small groups. We can work with four kids at a time, but that’s all.”
Reed City won’t be going to Ferris camps this year since it doesn’t work out with their schedule, Patterson said.
“We’ll probably have some scrimmage things come in, but they’re not finalized yet,” Patterson said.
Girls of all high school ages are included in these camps. Patterson expects strong turnouts again at the upcoming sessions.
Pine River and Evart volleyball teams also continue to go through their summer volleyball programs.
