Reed City track team 0-2 at CSAA meet

REED CITY — Reed City’s track teams were 0-2 on April 26 in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action at Newaygo.

Tri County was also at the meet.

For the Coyote boys Nate Fasbender (11.40) was first and Taylor Pelton third (11.70) in the 200 meters, Schuyler Smith was second in the 200 meters (24.40), Brad Marek was first in the 100 hurdles (16.50) and 300 hurdles (43.40), the foursome of Phillip Jones, Fasbender, Andre Jones and Pelton was first in the 4x100 relay (45.80), the unit of Phillip Jones, Mykel Dillard, Andre Jones and Smith was first in the 4x200 relay (1:38.50), and Smith was first (5-8) and Dillard second (5-8) in the high jump.

Fasbender won the pole vault (14-0) and Dillard took the long jump (19-1/2).

For the girls, Hanna Price was first (13.0) and Emily Libey third (14.10) in the 100 dash, Megan Borst was second (29.90) and Libey third (30.00) in the 200 dash, Catherine Kettner was third in the 1,600 meters (6:50.20), Price won the 300 hurdles (49.10), the foursome of Borst, Carmen Guy, Libey and Price won the 4x100 relay (55.90), Guy, Borst, Libey and Jenelle Straathof took the 4x200 relay (2:01.90), and Hannah Boza won the shot put (27-0) and discus (93-8).

“Hanna ran really well in the hurdles and 100 dash,” Reed City coach Brent Michell said. “Her 300 hurdles times have been coming down a little bit. We’ve been working hard and this last week and upcoming week we have time to train, condition and get stronger. I’m looking forward to seeing how well we’ll run in a week.

“Hannah Boza did a nice job. She’s improving her throws in both shot and discus. We have some boys throwing who aren’t scoring yet. They’re young, but we’re hoping what the next year or two, they can come on.”

Reed City is at the Shepherd Invitational on Friday.
