REED CITY — It’s 3-0 vs. 3-0 Friday night when Reed City hosts Grant in Central State Activities Gold Division action.

Both undefeated teams will bid to be 4-0 and 3-0 in the league.

The Coyotes won their second straight CSAA Gold game Friday with a 41-0 blanking of new league member Fremont.

“I thought our kids played pretty solid for four quarters of football,” Reed City coach Monty Price said. “We were 41 points in the first half and held them scoreless so I was pretty pleased with both offensive and defensive efforts, as well as special teams. We’re looking to put together a little bit of execution. We have a few things to work on but we’ll get back to work and hopefully fix those things.”

Phillip Jones rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only three carries to lead the winners.

“We had a lot of solid play from a lot of people,” Price said. “I have to give kudos to our defense including our seconds and backups for keeping them out of the end zone.”

The deepest Fremont penetrated was Reed City’s 20-yard line. The Packers attempted a field goal and Reed City blocked it.

“Special teams play was pretty good too,” Price said.

Logan Straub rushed for three scores and also had an interception, while Jayson Johnson also ran for a touchdown.

Derrick Rasor had one pass attempt and threw it 68 yards to Trent Sturgell for a touchdown.

Grant “is 3-0 and obviously has been a formidable opponent over the years,” Price said. “They’ve got some athletes and have got some size. We’ll certainly have to execute a little bit better. They run a lot of their offense out of the spread set, but they’re pretty balanced with the run and pass. Their quarterback is a solid athlete who can threaten you on the ground as well as in the air. They have a handful of other good athletes to go with him. Offensively, they seem to be very impressive.”
