Reed City swept by Big Rapids

REED CITY — Reed City’s volleyball team defeated Shelby 25-20, 25-11 in quad action at Big Rapids on Thursday.

Reed City lost 25-15, 25-13 to Big Rapids.

During the night for Reed City, Jenna Johnson had seven kills, three digs and one block, Madalyn Brown had seven kills, two aces and 31 digs, Kamryn Myers had three aces, eight digs and 21 assists, Claudia Franke had one kill, one ace four digs and 22 assists, Maddie Morgan had one ace and 20 digs, Katleynn Holmes had for kills, one ace and four digs, Mackenzie Wien had thee kills, two aces and 28 digs, Demi Lodholtz had 11 kills and five digs and Alison Dudles had 10 kills, one dig and five blocks.

Highland Jamboree

LAKE CITY — McBain was first (31), Evart second (76) and Pine River fifth (90) in the boys Highland Conference jamboree on Tuesday.

For Evart, Austin Hamilton was first (16:35.93). Nathan Woods third (17:10.05), Richard Foster 19th (18:57.8), Tanner Ryan 27th (19:31.47) and Kinkade DuBreuil 30th (19:51.40).

For Pine River, Jayce Methner was 11th (18:27.46), Phil Rigling 14th (18:39.86), Kei Deguchi 18th (18:56.14), Kaden Darrow 21st (19:10.99) and Cole Hill 28th (19:40.89).

McBain (19) was first, Pine River third (100) and Evart fifth (132) for the girls.

For Pine River, Kelsi Charles was 10th (22:04.76), Payton Fulmerhouser 12th (22:39.69), Dallas Snider 26th (25:11.40), Kendra Montague 31st (25:52.97) and Grace Beebe 34th (26:45.29).

For Evart, Sophia Scott was 17th (23:29.37), Laina Payne was 19th (24:00.85), Kyleigh Suburbans 35th, (26:45.95) and Rilee Clark 36th (26:47.05).

Reed City fourth

FREMONT — Fremont edged Big Rapids boys cross country team 37-58 for first place in Tuesday’s Central State Activities Association Gold Division jamboree at Fremont. Reed City was fourth (112) and Chippewa Hills seventh (193).

For Reed City, Brandon Wirth was third (17:39.5), Calvin Rohde was 11th (18:38.7), Noah Blythe 25th (20:04.1). Jared Karns was 43rd (21:45.9) and Ryan Simmons 46th (22:06. 8).

Chippewa Hills won the CSAA girls race. Fremont was second, Big Rapids third and Reed City fourth.

Reed City was led by Abbigail Kiaunis in seventh (22:00).

Taylor Harrison 10th (22:49), Paige Lofquist 28th (25:16.7).

Brooke Miller 32nd (25:51.2) and Leigh Johnson 35th (26:10.3).
