REED CITY — Mason Bush is among the several wrestlers Reed City is looking to score a lot of points during the season.

It’s his sophomore season and Bush is coming off a promising freshman year.

“It went pretty well,” he said. “I went 15-14. We were here at Reed City and I took third in our invitational.”

He was at 152 last season, the same weight he’s at this winter.

“I”m doing really well,” Bush, who has a 9-4 record, said. “I had a big one here at Reed City against Big Rapids. I’ve improved a ton between last year and this year. I’ve stepped it up and feel I’ve accomplished more because I’m more focused and into it this year.”

Bush has several moves he prefers.

“Some of the moves I like are the duck under,” he said. “I’m not a shooter but this year I’ve been shooting quite a bit. I’m working on my bottom, trying to get up and away from people and not having my head on the mat all the time.”

Bush hopes to have a winning record before the season ends and move on to regionals.

“The key will be to work hard in the wrestling room and don’t give up,’ Bush said.

Reed City resumes action at Central Montcalm on Wednesday.

“The team is actually looking really great this year,” Bush said. “We have quite a bit of freshmen but they show improvement every time we’re on the mat. It’s been a good year.”

Bush also plays football and golf for Reed City.
