Reed City sophomore reflects on strong season
REED CITY - One Reed City varsity volleyball season is over for MaKena Hill and she can't wait before starting another one.
The Coyote sophomore and her team lost to Cadillac in the district final last week.
"It's been going pretty good so far," Hill said late in the season.
She found out at the start of the season she would be playing varsity.
"It was kind of nerve racking," Hill said adding she was able to make the transition successfully.
She's been a right-side hitter, and she's been able to get the ball down.
"I feel like I can hit it hard," Hill said, adding she got more consistent as the season progressed.
"I like passing," she said. "You have to get low and make sure you know where the ball is going."
Highlights for Hill and the team were sweeping Chippewa Hills during the regular season plus wins in the district over Manistee and Benzie Central.
"We were loud, cooperated with each other and were a good team," Hill said. "I would like to learn how to set more and get better at hitting. We have to communicate on the court and be loud about it."
