REED CITY — Katianne Hansen has been playing summer softball in Reed City in getting ready to contend for a position on the varsity level.

Hansen will be a sophomore. She played junior varsity softball in the spring.

It’s her first time with the summer team.

“I like it a lot,” she said. “It’s more competitive.”

Hansen plays catcher and outfield and takes pride in her glove and arm.

As a hitter, “I’m doing pretty good,” she said. “Hitting practice has helped a lot.”

Summer practices on Sundays helps us get ready for our games Wednesday (in Mount Pleasant).”

She’ll be playing volleyball in the fall and perhaps some softball also.

The summer team “is doing very well,” she said. “We’re confident in ourselves.”
