Reed City softball team ties Shepherd 8-8
REED CITY — Reed City tied Shepherd 8-8 last Wednesday in Mount Pleasant Summer Softball League action.
Sidni Rushford pitched for Reed City. She allowed eight runs, on 10 hits, walked two and struck out two.
Skiler Brigham had two hits for the Coyotes while Lindsey Greer, Brittney Cassidy, Rushford, Taylor Steig and Brittani and Ally Yarger had one apiece.
Reed City defeated Carson City-Crystal 6-3 in the second game. Brigham went two innings and allowed three runs. Brittney Yarger threw for an inning and allowed no hits. Maddie Morgan walked three and fanned four for Reed City
Greer had two hits. Cassidy, Katianne Hansen and Ally Yarger had one hit apiece.
Our girls hit well tonight,” said Reed City coach Roger Steig.
“It was a totally different team. We bounced back after not playing so well last week. We played a couple of good teams tonight. In the first game, our pitcher, Sidni kept us in the game. In the second game, our three pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter (in six innings) Skiler Brigham made some outstanding plays at shortstop.
This Wednesday at Mount Pleasant, Reed City will play Pine River and Shepherd. This will wrap up the summer season for Reed City.
Coach Roger Steig said the team has scheduled this Sunday as “Sweep the town” day, courtesy of the softball team from 6 to 9 p.m.
Steig said players will not have practice that day but will sweep driveways and sidewalks for city residents.
