Reed City softball players receive postseason honors

REED CITY — Several Reed City softball players have received postseason honors this season, including pitchers Jules Griffin and Sidni Rushford.

Both earned first team all-Central State Activities Association honors. Griffin also was academic All-State. She batted fourth in the lineup with a .259 average, 21 RBIs, .440 on base percentage, .329 slugging percentage and .944 fielding percentage.

As a pitcher, Griffin had 13 wins plus an ERA of 2.13, along with 132 strikeouts and 23 walks,

“She was our senior team captain,” coach Roger Steig said.

Rushford, a sophomore, batted second in the lineup with a .322 batting average, .458 on base percentage, .508 slugging percentage, 25 RBIs, 10 doubles, five triples and one homer, plus 23 stolen bases. She was pitcher and first baseman.

“Her fielding percentage was .971,” Steig said.

Senior Allyson Yarger also received first-team honors in the CSAA.

“She bats third in the lineup with a .296 batting average, 31 RBIs and nine doubles,” Steig said. “Her position is second base with a .954 fielding percentage. She is a senior team captain.”

Griffin and senior Olivia Lawson earned All-District honors this season.

Lawson batted fifth in the lineup with a .290 batting average, .438 on base percentage, .400 slugging percentage 28 RBIs, six doubles, three triples and 11 stolen bases.

“Her position is center field with a fielding percentage of .966,” Steig said.
