Reed City soccer team ready to start season

REED CITY — Reed City’s soccer team begins its season later this week with players like Tyler White looking to help the Coyotes have success.

White is a senior who plays defense for the Coyotes and is in his fourth varsity season.

“I feel like we have a strong team,” he said. “We have built it up. We have our moments, like every team does. I think as a team, we’re coming together.”

White is anticipating he’ll continue to play defense, and hopes to improve on his shooting

“We have a strong defense, which is important,” he said. “I’m good at passing, but not too good at shooting. I’m good at seeing the field.”

White came to most of the open fields the Coyotes had during the summer.

“They’re looking really good,” he said. “I’ve played with most of these gentlemen for a couple of years now.”

The Coyotes, under coach Cody Jacobs, started official practices on Aug. 12.

The season starts at the Northern Michigan Christian High School Soccer Invitational on Saturday.

Reed City has two games next week at Big Rapids Crossroads on Aug. 24 and at Tri County on Aug. 26 in Central State Activities Association play.

Then Reed City has four straight home games Aug. 31 (Newaygo), Sept. 9 (Grant), Sept. 11 (Mason County Central) and Sept. 14 (Big Rapids).
