Reed City soccer team falls to Tri County


REED CITY — Reed City’s boys soccer team fell to 2-9 with a 6-1 loss to Tri County on Monday in Central State Activities Association action.

Tri County had a 3-1 halftime lead. Reed City had a goal from Ethan Maddox, assisted by Seth Phelps.

Silas Schultz was Reed City’s goalkeeper and had 14 saves.

“He did a pretty good job in there,” Reed City coach Doug Emington said.

Maddox scored two goals in a 10-2 loss to Newaygo last Wednesday, Freshman Lorenz Hoernel assisted on both scores.

“We played everyone in that game,” Emington said. “It’s a situation where we’re trying to get kids experience.”

Reed City’s next match is Wednesday at home with Fremont in Central State Activities Association play. The Coyotes are at Lakeview on Friday.

Houghton Lake 3, Pine River 0

Brad Holmes was goalkeeper for Pine River and had 10 saves.  Caleb Bowman and Jacob Johnson combined defensively for 12 blocks/steals.

Anna Lindquist, Steven Hilkowski and Zac Underhill had two shots on goal.
