Reed City soccer team falls
REED CITY – Fremont is considered a major boys soccer power in the Central State Activities Association and showed why on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The Packers ended the game at halftime on the mercy rule in an 8-0 win at Reed City.
The eighth goal came with six minutes left in the first half.
“We put extra defenders back and we tried to play more of a defensive style and they ate us apart,” Reed City coach Chris Maddox said. “Overall, we’re back and forth. We take a turn in the right direction, then the next game we take two steps back.
“We’re a young team with seven freshmen in there. They’re starting to fill the grind of the season and we’re working through that. We’ve played very good competition.”
“Fremont is pretty good, they’ve always been pretty good,” junior Raymond Penney said. “We didn’t have our full team today. If we had our full team, I think we could have done better.”
“We have to stay strong and put our heart into it,” senior Andrew Clementshaw said.
Thursday, Reed City (3-10) lost 4-0 at Big Rapids.
The league tourney is this week.
