REED CITY – Claudia Francke scored on a penalty kick to lead Reed City’s soccer team to a 1-0 CSAA Silver Divisional win over Kent City on Wednesday.

Francke’s kick came early in the second half for the Coyotes.

“I try to stay calm during the PKs,” Francke said. “I’ve taken quite a few. I try to stay calm and aim for the corner.

Reed City is 3-0-1.

“Kent City is better than the last time we played them,” Reed City coach Andrea Pollaski said. “We started out a little slow, maybe expecting we’d have an easier time. They came back a better team.”

There was no season lasts spring. But it was two years ago the Coyotes dominated the Eagles.

“I think we mercied them both times,” Pollaski said. “But they came out strong and it took us a good 20 minutes to get into the game. Once we got into the game, we figured out our game of getting it out wide, bringing it back in. We have to work on our finishing.”

Miriah Hodges was keeper for Reed City.

“I thought we played really hard,” senior Aliyah Fitch said. “We definitely need to work on our shooting but all-around, we had really good passes. I’m happy we came out with a win.”
