Reed City set for postseason soccer

REED CITY  — Reed City coach Doug Emington saw some encouragement from a 7-1 road loss to Fremont in Central State Activities Association action on Monday.

The last time, the Coyotes had lost to Fremont the score was 7-0. “We improved against them,” Emington said. indicating this was far more indicative in overall play not necessarily demonstrated by the score.

Hunter Morrison scored Reed City’s only goal. He was assisted by Seth Phelps.

Reed City played a strong soccer game at home against Tri County last Wednesday, but lost 3-1.

Emington was impressed with his team’s performance and in keeping the goals against down to three.

Lorenz Hoernel scored Reed City’s only goal in the second half. It was 2-0 at halftime.

“We played them even in the second half, 1-1,” Emington said.

Reed City had parents night against Lakeview on Tuesday. It was the final regular season game. Reed City plays next Wednesday against either Manistee or Mason County Central. The Coyotes play at whichever team wins that match.
