REED CITY — Reed City has a heavily dominated senior roster including setter Heather Tacey who hopes to have a strong run this season at the Central State Activities Association and post-season titles. Stacey and her teammates had a strong day on Saturday at the Pine River Invitational, fell to Greenville in the title match.

The Coyotes have gotten off to a strong start and Tacey said it’s been a major benefit knowing most of her teammates very well.

“I’ve improved since last year,” she said. “Now that we’re all seniors, everyone has to step up.”

Tacey is working on her serve, noting that coach Don Patterson usually advises his players on a good spot to serve the ball on the other side of the net.

Practices started Aug. 14.

“We’ve made a lot of progress as a team,” Tacey said, adding that against a strong team like Morley Stanwood, “we need to serve well and top their offense.”

All but two players on the team are seniors.

“That helps a lot,” Tacey said. “We’re all friends on and off the court.”
