REED CITY -- Reed City's girls team has continually improved, as was evident earlier this month after a narrow loss at Big Rapids.

The Coyotes had won two straight prior to that.

Among the players who have been picking up the slack have been Mackenzie Vandawater, who had nine points in the loss to the Cardinals.

It was one of the better games for the Reed City senior.

It's Vandawater's second year on the varsity and the improvement has been impressive.

"I didn't play last year hardly any at all," she said. "I've got more experience, I'm getting more time and I'm getting better."

Vandawater has been counted upon to rebound and score. The baseline is among her best scoring areas she indicated.

Vandawater agreed playing four full quarters is critical for her team.

"We can't lose a quarter," she said.

The Mohawks are at Morley Stanwood on Tuesday.
