REED CITY – It’s Paige Lofquist’s senior season and the Reed City girls basketball player has been fulfilling a key role for the Coyotes.

In Friday’s 46-23 Central State Activities Association Gold Division home loss to Grant, Lofquist led her team with seven points, nine rebounds and three steals. Christina Malackanich had seven points.

Grant had quarter leads of 16-2, 32-10 and 37-14.

Lofquist has been a point guard for the Coyotes. Ball-handling and decision-making have been key roles for the RC senior.

“I tend to shoot from outside,” she said. “I think that’s my best shot.

“I think I’m a pretty strong defensive player,” she said. “I just need to watch fouls and reaching in.”

Reed City will be at Tri County in CSAA action on Friday.

The final game of 2021 will be at home on Dec. 21 against White Cloud.  Lofquist expects to see the team continue to improve.

“We need to work together and figure everything out,” she said.

Lofquist runs cross country in the fall  and plays soccer  in the spring. She was a state qualifier in cross country. Basketball is her favorite sport.

“Cross county helps get in me shape for basketball with all the running,” she said.
