Reed City's Isaiah Moore doing plenty on the basketball court

REED CITY – Isaiah Moore has been having a credible season for Reed City’s basketball team as a junior, but is hoping to help the Coyotes finish very strong.

One of Moore’s best games was against Big Rapids in a 40-39 win, which has so far been the only loss the Cardinals have sustained.

It’s his first varsity season. The Coyotes and other basketball teams couldn’t have contact to get ready until Feb. 8.

“We did the best we could getting ready for our first few games,” he said after the win over BR. “It felt good to pull this one out.

“My role is to find open shots, find open teammates and play good defense and do whatever I can to help my team out.”

It’s his first year on varsity but Moore said he feels comfortable on the higher level.

“It’s a lot more physical and quicker,” he said, adding his fundamental strengths as a basketball player are his shooting and his defense.

Moore indicated one of his best weapons is his corner shot.

“The key is being ready to shoot,” Moore said. “I want to work on my transition.”

The Coyotes were scheduled to play at Cadillac in district action on March 23.

“I think we can get better every day and be faster and stronger,” Moore said.
