Reed City players are all-staters
REED CITY — Several Reed City players have earned all-state football honors from the Associated Press, in Division 5-6.
Phillip Jones-Price, was recognized on the first team as a running back and Anthony Pelton as a lineman.
Reed City’s Jackson Price (DB) and Stephen Schewan (LB) were named to the second team and Michael Johnson (Linemen) was honorable mention.
Jones-Price, a running back, had 132 carries for 1,682 yards and 31 touchdowns with 12.7 yards per carry.
Price, a quarterback and defensive back, had 18 of 38 passing for 450 yards and six touchdowns.
He had 20 carries for 344 yards and six TDs for 17.2 yards per carry. Defensively, he had 27 tackles, three for loss, two force fumbles, one fumble recovery, four pass interceptions, three pass breakups and one defensive touchdown.
Johnson is a lineman on a Coyote offense which gained 3,764 yards in nine contests.
“He’s a big tackle who dominates the defense,” Reed City coach Monty Price said. “He is physical and tough.”
Pelton is a defensive lineman who had 42 tackles, 12 for losses, one forced fumble, two sacks and one pass breakup. He has verbally committed to Grand Valley State.
Shewan was a linebacker and defensive lineman with 49 tackles, 20 for losses, and one forced fumble, plus one fumble recovery, five sacks and a defensive touchdown.
