Treyvor Conklin has been among Reed City's top hitters this season.
File photoREED CITY – Treyvor Conklin is in his senior Reed City baseball season and it was his fourth on the varsity team.
“I think my best season so far has been my freshman year,” Conklin said. “I’m working as hard this season as I ever had.”
Conklin has played various positions including third base and left field but indicated first base might be his best. His arm for throws from third to first base have been very accurate “so far,” he said.
His bat has been decent for the Coyotes this year.
“I’ve been doing decent from the leadoff spot,” Conklin said. “To me a leadoff hitter is a big deal because he’s going to set the tone for the rest of the team. I think it’s been going pretty good. I didn’t have my best game some days. I’ve been hitting with a lot of power.”
He has had a key home run this season and figures he had seven in his career. The two he’s hit this year has been with one runner aboard.
Baseball has been his only sport.
“I think baseball is more of a mental sport so it’s harder on you,” he said. “I’ve been playing it since I was nine and I’m 19 right now.”
