Reed City improves softball record to 5-1
BRISTOL — Reed City continues to have a strong summer season with a 5-1 softball record. The Coyotes, in Local Area Teams League action at Bristol diamonds last Wednesday, swept Tri County 9-7 and 5-1.
Sidni Rushford was the winning pitcher in the first game. Jules Griffin took the win in the second game.
Kamryn Myers had a home run in the second game. Reed City is in first-place in the LAT league standings.
“We had been tied with Tri County,” Reed City coach Roger Steig said.
Reed CIty plays Cadillac at Bristol on Wednesday.
“We’re playing with a young group of girls,” Steig said. “We’re playing really good ball right now. A lot of these girls are fighting for varsity spots next year. The league is a nice thing Laura Mumby of Pine River organizes. It’s a great thing for area softball.
Pine River 7-15, Cadillac 6-1
Pine River enjoyed a pair of wins over Cadillac in LAT league play last Wednesday. In the first game, Jenna Johnson belted two home runs and two RBIs. Chelsey TerBurgh had three singles while Tailor Charles had two hits and one RBI.
Winning pitcher was Kourtney Brock. She had six innings pitched, six strikeouts and tossed a two-hitter. Bekah Dean had two singles and two RBIs.
In the second game, Ally Stokley had a double and four RBIs. Carleigh Trowbridge and Tailor Charles both had two RBIs.
Dean was the winning pitcher.
“We played short a few key players tonight, but the girls adapted very well, and our bats kept us on the winning end of both games tonight,” Pine River coach Laura Mumby said.
Pine River plays Wednesday at Tri County.
