Reed City golfers tie for second
REED CITY — Big Rapids’ golf team continued to show its dominance in the Central State Activities Association while Reed City put in its strongest 18-hole showing in eight years to tie Central Montcalm for second place.
Those were the highlights on Monday’s CSAA jamboree at Spring Valley Golf Course.
Big Rapids had a 298, followed by Central Montcalm and Reed City with 356, Chippewa Hills (363), Lakeview (370), Kent city and Tri County (382), Fremont (383) and Hesperia (845).
For Reed City, “it’s the best finish since I’ve been coaching,” Reed City coach Katrina Wray said. “We’re pretty proud. Granted, this is our home course and we had the home course advantage.”
Bryce Grannis led the Coyotes with an 83.
“I had one bad hole and that was about it,” Grannis said. “Today, we had three kids shoot in the 80s which is very good for us.”
Thomas Quinn is a junior in his third year of varsity golf and shot an 88. “I’ve improved a lot since my freshman year especially on my long distance.” Quinn said. “I shot pretty good today. My goal is to break into the 80s.”
Also scoring for Reed City were Phelps (88). Mason Bush (97) Alex Wirgau (98) and Josh Mund (102).
