REED CITY — Spring golf season might be over, but high school players like Jacob Green would like to take advantage of the ongoing summer season.

Green is a junior who played golf last spring for Reed City. He’s hoping to take advantages of his summer opportunities and then be ready to play by next spring. He completed his first full year after playing some varsity action last season.

For 18 holes this season, he averaged in the high 90s and said he was happy with that.

He said he improved “a ton,” from last year. It would have been good for us to have had more practice but the spring set us back.”

Green called the Coyotes “a good solid team,” adding that for next year “I’m hopefully shooting for high 80s.”

This summer, he said he’ll be trying to play just about every day. Driving has been his strengths.

Next year’s team “is looking pretty good. We have couple of good golfers coming in to varsity,” Green said.
