SHEPHERD — Reed City's girls were seventh with 32.3 points while the boys were 21st with nine at the Shepherd Invitational on Friday.

For the girls, Emily Libey won the long jump (14 feet 11 1/2 inches) with a personal record. Meghan Borst, Carmen Guy, Emily Libey and Jenelle Straathof were ninth in the 400-meter relay (55.0).

"Our boys team is extremely young," Reed City coach Brent Mitchell said. "Calvin Rohdy is a freshman and ran a 54.45 in the 400 and was our lone medalist on the boys side.

"Emily Libey is doing a good job for the girls. She's placing in the long jump and just started it on Friday. She won the big school division. Our relay team is getting a little better but has a way to go. Hannah Boza is solid in the discus for us. Makayla Kangas is improving in the pole vault. She went 7-9 on Friday."

The Coyotes have a makeup dual meet at Chippewa Hills with Big Rapids on Wednesday. They ran on Monday at the Central State Activities Association Gold meet, also at Chippewa Hills.
