REED CITY – Pine River’s softball team split its doubleheader with Reed City on Monday to clinch the outright Local Area Teams (LAT) championship.

Pine River beat Reed City 7-5 in the first game. Reed City went into the final inning up 5-4 when Pine River rallied with three runs to win it.

Isabell Guy went five innings, giving up four runs on four hits, striking out six and walking six.

Paityn Enos was the pitcher of record for Reed City. She went one inning, giving up three runs on two hits striking out two and walking three. Guy, Hayden Cutler, Myah Beard and Madison Lutjens all had one hit each.

Game two featued Reed City over Pine River in five innings, 19-2. Paityn Enos got the win, going four innings. giving up two runs on one hit, striking out eight with no walks.

Miyesha Baumgardner pitched relief the final inning and gave up no runs on no hits and walked two.

Leading hitter in game two was Guy with three hits. With two hits each was Kaylin Goodman, Miyesha Baumgardner Maddie Holmes and Madison Lutjens. With one hit each were Enos, Emma Johnston, Myah Beard and Elizabeth Calabrese.

Pine River, at 9-1, has a three-game lead for first place with two games remaining. Reed City is home with Cadillac on Wednesday to close out the season.
