Reed City girls close summer season

REED CITY — The summer softball season has ended at Mount Pleasant for Reed City. Last Wednesday, the Coyotes defeated Montabella 11-4. Winning pitcher was Sidni Rushford who went four innings, gave up three hits, walked two and struck out six. Skiler Brigham came in middle relief and gave up three walks and three runs.

Brittani Yarger got the save and gave up two hits, one run and struck out two. At the plate Taylor Steig had two hits while delivering one apiece were Olivia Lawson, Rushford and Yarger. In the next game, Reed City lost to Shepherd 7-6. Jules Griffin gave up seven runs on four hits. She walked three and struck out four. Getting one hit each were Ally and Brittani Yarger, Ashley Andres, Brigham and Griffin. It was a six-week season at Mount Pleasant. The fall season for Reed City starts Aug. 18 in Grand Rapids. RC will play doubleheaders every Sunday for six weeks. Diamonds are at Comstock Park and Grand Rapids Northview. Steig said summer Sunday practices will continue. The same group of girls that played for Reed City during the summer will be on the squad during the fall. Steig said the team usually has 12 players at each game.
