Reed City girls bow to Fremont
REED CITY -- Reed City (0-3) fell behind early to Fremont (2-2) and sustained a 55-40 loss on Friday.
It was the CSAA Gold opener for both girls basketball teams.
Fremont led 11-9 after the first quarter but had a 22-4 advantage in the second for a commanding 33-13 halftime lead.
The Coyotes played stronger in the next two quarters and trailed 45-28 going into the fourth. Jayna Kailing scored for the Coyotes to make it 45-30.
Demi Lodholtz netted a 3-pointer and other Coyotes hit their shots to cut down the deficit.
"We had three really good quarters," Reed City coach Tim Beilfuss said. "That quarter absolutely killed us. We turned the ball over. We had 31 turnovers. That absolutely killed us."
Taylor Harrison hit a key triple in the third quarter and wound up with 14 points. Lodholtz had eight points, Paige Lofquist five and Paige Williams four.
"We have to take care of the basketball," Beilfuss said.
"I think we did good," Lodholtz said. "It's the first time we've scored 40 points in awhile.
"We have to take care of the ball better."
Reed City is at Grant on Friday.
