Reed City girl wrestler gets ready for softball
REED CITY -- Reed City senior Cassie Enos is coming off her final senior season for the Coyote wrestling team and is now focusing on softball practices which started on Monday.
Enos had a 2-2 record in early February while competing in state competition for girl wrestlers at Adrian College, and took fourth at 168 pounds
Enos took second out of seven wrestlers last year.
"She had 20 wrestlers in her bracket," Reed City coach Roger Steig said. "Her record was 2-2."
"My placement may not show it but I definitely think I did better this year," Enos said.
Girls wrestling isn't an official MHSAA sport. It was Enos' only competition against girls this season.
For the boys this year, Enos was around .500.
"I didn't wrestle against the boys as much as I did last year," Enos said.
She's been at 171 pounds for the boys.
"I definitely had fun and I'll definitely miss it," Enos said. "Including middle school this is my sixth year (of boys wrestling). Last year against Hesperia, I bumped up a weight class at 189 and I got a pin. It was huge for our team."
Her bottom work and avoiding getting pinned has been a strength for Enos. Abby Helsel, was another wrestler for the Coyotes but was out with an injury most of the season.
