Reed City falls to Newaygo baseball team

REED CITY — Reed City’s baseball team lost to Newaygo 11-9 on Friday at home in a game that had been suspended on April 14 in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action 9-5 after three innings.

Reed City on May 22 swept Central Montcalm 1-0 and 7-5 in league action.

The Coyotes finish the CSAA at 11-3 for second place behind Big Big Rapids. The Coyotes had nonleague games at home on Tuesday against Cadillac. They play at the Pine River district on Saturday in a semifinal game against Mason County Central.

Reed CIty softball

STANTON — Central Montcalm wrapped up the CSAA Gold title with 6-2 and 6-3 wins over Reed City on Tuesday, May 22. Reed City needed to win twice for a share of the CSAA title.

Sidni Rushford took the loss in the first game. Along three unearned runs on 10 hits, striking out five and walking two. Rushford had a double, Kamryn Myers had two hits. Maddie Morgan and Alyssa Olds had one hit each.

Morgan took the loss in the second game. Jordyn Storch had two hits including her 10th homer of the season. Myers and Olds had two hits. Lilly Andres had one hit.

Reed City (19–10, 10-4) finishes the league in second place and was home on Tuesday with Evart. The Coyotes play at Pine River on Saturday in district action.
