Reed City cross country teams stay busy

MANISTEE — Reed City competed in the Chris Grabowski Memorial Invitational at Manistee on Thursday.

The Coyotes didn’t have a boys team, but got strong performances from Brandon Wirth, who was sixth (18:35.4), Calvin Rohde seventh (18:49.08) and Noah Blythe (20.12.44). Heaven Hurley was 32nd (20:53.94).

For Reed City girls, Mackenzie Vandawater was 13th (24:24.43), Catherine Kettner (24:58.28) 20th, Leigha Johnson 22nd (25:30.91), Hana Ondrus 38th (29:27.04) and Hailey Duchene 40th (30:21.08).

The Coyotes competed on Thursday in the Central State Activities Association Gold Division meet.

Earlier this month, on a Thursday afternoon, the Reed City cross country team ran the homecoming “game ball” from Northend Park in Big Rapids, along the Rails to Trails, through Paris, to Reed City. Three runners ran 11-plus miles, one ran 10-plus miles, others ran five or more miles.

The rain was steady, but the temperature was warm.
