FREMONT — Chippewa Hills girls cross country team won another Central State Activities Association Gold Division jamboree on Tuesday at Fremont.

The Warriors girls had a 32, followed by Fremont (59), Newaygo (89), Reed City (94), Big Rapids (122) Grant (155), Tri County (218) and Central Montcalm.

For Reed City, Abbigail Klaunis was fifth (22:44.2), Taylor Harrison eighth (22:57.6), Olivia Thompson 16th (24:14.5), Leigha Johnson 40th (26:52.2) and Abigaile Johnson 42nd (27:09.9).

Fremont won the boys race (20) with its top five scores ending in the top seven. Big Rapids was fourth (114) Chippewa Hills fifth (135) and Reed City sixth (135).

For Reed City, Brandon Wirth was third (18:40.1), Calvin Rohde 17th (19:35.9), Noah Blythe 38th (21:42.5), Ryan Simmons 47th (22:45.4) and Jared Karns 53rd (23:13.8).

“It was on a very tough course with a lot of elevation changes,” coach Richard Saladin said. “This is a very difficult course with some really steep hills that the kids have to both climb up and fly down. Some of the kids ran here last year, so they knew what to expect. We’ve been doing quite a bit of hill training and the work showed off.”

“We’re so proud of all of our kids,” coach Susan Saladin said. “They’ve continued to grow and get stronger throughout the year.”
