Reed City has had a busy summer of football.

REED CITY – Reed City football coaches continued their summer program with a junior high seventh and eighth-grade camp on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Head coach Scott Shankel said sessions would continue with the lifting tires night on Sunday and weight-lifting next Tuesday and Thursday.

“High school-wise, we did our skills camp last week and are kind of slowing down other than tires and lifting, with practice starting on Aug. 12,” Shankel said. “Aug 1 starts a mandatory dead week. You can do conditioning and lifting but no football related stuff until practice starts.”

Shankel is his first year as head coach, replacing Monty Price, who is now at Belding.

The season begins on Aug. 30 at Montague. The Coyotes begin defense of their eighth straight CSAA title with a league game at home on Sept. 6 against Fremont.
