REED CITY — Reed City's boys golf team concluded its season on May 31 by placing at the Division 3 regional tournament at The Nightmare Golf Course near Ogema Heights.

The Coyotes placed 12th, but only the top three teams advance to the state finals.

“We showed up and did our best,” Reed City coach Katrina Wray said. “The course was long. The greens were unlike those we've seen.”

Wray had 10 on her team this season. Two players graduated including Brady Slater, normally one of the team's top golfers. The other senior is Alex Brummel. Several key golfers will be returning.

“We'll miss Brady and Alex but everyone else is coming back and we hope they can come back even better,” Wray said.

She's hoping her players can get as much summer-time on the course as possible, although many others play football and basketball and have a full offseason schedule. Also back will be Bryce Grannis, Josh Mund, Zack Wirgau, Seth Phelps and Thomas Quinn.
