REED CITY  — It’s been a busy summer for Reed City catcher Lindsey Greer.

Greer went right from spring softball to summer Local Area Teams (LAT) League action in Bristol.

That league ended its play last Wednesday but the Coyotes are at home with Montabella Thursday.

Greer will be a senior next season. She’s been focusing on hitting this summer “all-around, being able to slap and hit with power, and bunt,” Greer said.

She’s had three varsity seasons and 2014 was her best “in all areas,” Greer said. “I took basketball season off so I could focus on playing softball year round. It was also maturity. I wasn’t here my freshman year. I was at Tri County. I had more familiarity with the team and coach and the way we do things.”

Greer will also run cross country this fall.

“Last year was my first time,” she said. “It was more fun than anything. It keeps me in good shape.”

This fall, Greer also hopes to improve and, “at least beat my time. I always have a good finish. I think I try to pace myself too much at times.”

She’s putting in as many miles this summer as possible.

“We’ll have lot of girls,” Greer said. “A lot of softball girls are going out for it.”

Looking ahead to the 2015 softball season, “it will be really good. We have to fill some spots,” she added.

As a catcher, Greer hopes to improve all-around.

“I really want to get better at throw downs next year,” she said.
