Reed City boys second at Manton

 MANTON — Reed City’s boys track team was second and the girls fourth in action on March 29 at Manton to open the season.

Lake City won the boys with 87 point, while Reed City had 80. For the Coyotes, Brad Marek was first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.01), Phillip Jones first in the 100-meter dash (11.98), and Taylor Pelton second (12.03) in the 100. The 800-meter relay team was third (1:52.44),

The 400-meter relay team of Phillip Jones, Taylor Pelton, Nathan Fasbender and Andre Jones  was first (45.55), Marek was second in the 300 hurdles (44.52), Andre Jones second (24.1) and Mykel Dillard third in the 200-meter dash (24.76), the 1,600-meter relay team was first (3:49.55), Angel Estrada was second (100-11) and Pelton third (100-6) in the discus, Nathan Fasbender first in the pole vault (14-6), Jones second (10-10), in the long jump and Schuyler Smith first (5-0) in the high jump.

“I was pleased with our 4x1,” Reed CIty coach Brent Mitchell said.” Nathan nearly made 15 feet. He looked good.”

For the girls, who took fourth as a team, Hanna Price was first in the 100 hurdles (17.16) and first in the 300 low hurdles (55.19) and third in the long jump (13-3 ½). Catherine Kettner was third in the 1,600-meter run (7:00.08), the 400-meter relay team was second (55.73), the 1,600-meter relay team was first (4:37.77) and Meghan Borst in the high jump (4-4).

“Hannah Boza looked good in the discus,” Michell said.

Reed City is at the Newaygo Invitational on April 15.
