REED CITY -- Reed City led 21-16 at halftime and 44-29 after the third quarter en route to a 55-43 nonleague boys basketball win over Benzie Central on Dec. 18. Brandon Wirth had 13 points for Reed City while Payton Hansen had 10 and Cody Kailing and Brandon Major had eight apiece.

"Anthony Pelton was out sick and there were some others too," Reed City coach JJ Eads said. "We got through it. I think everybody is ready for a break.

"We got off to a slow start offensively. Our effort and depth got to them. We rotated 10 guys in there, which helped us."

Reed City is at Tri County on Jan. 4 in CSAA Gold action.

The Coyotes are 5-1.

''I'm pleased with that, considering we started late (from a longer football season) and all that stuff," Eads said. 'We also have a lot of players back. We played well against Fremont, a league favorite. We shot the ball well. We don't want to peak yet."
