HOWARD CITY — After trailing 28-27 at halftime, the Reed City boys basketball team outscored Tri County 41-17 in the second half to earn a comfortable 68-45 Central State Activities Association Gold Division win on Friday .

Zac Saez and Anthony Pelton tallied 16 points apiece and Payton Hansen added 13 points.

“We wore down on them a bit,” Reed City coach JJ Eads said. “We took care of the ball better and made some shots. We got in foul trouble and really have to work on that.”

Reed City (6-1, 3-0) was scheduled to be at Chippewa Hills on Tuesday and will host Big Rapids on Friday.

“Chippewa Hills has two good post players in (Jack) Frebes and (Mitch) Kuzma,” Eads said on Sunday. “They’re a well balanced team. It will be a tough match up for us.”

Big Rapids is at Reed City on Friday.

“Jackob Martinson might be the best kid in the league,” Eads said. “He’s tough to defend. They’re well balanced inside and outside. It’s going to be tough. We’ll have to handle their pressure and hopefully take care of the ball.”
