REED CITY -- Reed City improved to 3-5 in the CSAA and 3-10 overall with a 57-51 win over Newaygo, 3-5 and 4-8 overall, on Feb 4.

The Coyotes led 13-10 after the first quarter, 26-20 at halftime and 39-30 after the third quarter.

Zac Saez scored 16 points, Landen Tomaski had 11, Payton Hansen added 10 rebounds and eight points and Xavier Allen added eight points.

Noah Painter and Wyatt Mortensen had 10 points apiece for Newaygo.

"The biggest thing is we kept our intensity up for four quarters," Reed City coach Jesse Kailing said. "They made a good run in the fourth and cut the lead to two. Xavier Allen came up big in the fourth quarter. He had seven points in the fourth in his own seven-point run. He did a nice job.

"We had some shots fall for us tonight, which was key. We kept our intensity up the whole game. We didn't have downtime. It's one of our best games of the season in terms of eliminating turnovers. We did a nice job with the ball."
